Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy
1. Policy Statement
KIIF Construction Ltd (“KIIF”, “we”, “our” or “us”) is committed to preventing modern slavery, forced labour and human trafficking in all aspects of our business operations and supply chains. We take our responsibilities seriously and are committed to acting ethically, transparently and with integrity in all our business relationships.
This policy is made pursuant to section 54 of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and sets out the steps we take to ensure that slavery and human trafficking are not taking place within our business or supply chains.
2. Our Business
KIIF Construction Ltd is a North West–based construction and building company providing a range of building, refurbishment and related services across the UK.
At times, KIIF may employ or engage skilled craftsmen and subcontractors who originate from outside the UK. We are committed to ensuring that all individuals working for or on behalf of KIIF are legally entitled to live and work in the UK and are treated fairly, lawfully and with dignity.
3. Our Commitment
KIIF has a zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery and human trafficking. We are committed to:
- Acting ethically and with integrity in all business relationships
- Implementing and enforcing effective systems and controls to prevent modern slavery
- Ensuring all workers are free to choose their employment and are not coerced
- Ensuring compliance with all relevant employment, immigration and labour laws
4. Policies and Procedures
To support this policy, KIIF operates the following measures:
Right to Work Checks: We carry out appropriate right-to-work checks for all employees and, where relevant, subcontractors, in line with UK immigration law.
Fair Pay and Conditions: All workers are paid at least the applicable National Minimum Wage or National Living Wage and receive terms and conditions that comply with UK employment legislation.
No Recruitment Fees: KIIF does not charge recruitment fees to workers and does not tolerate any form of debt bondage.
Freedom of Movement: Workers are not required to lodge deposits, surrender identity documents or be restricted in their movement.
5. Supply Chains and Due Diligence
KIIF recognises that modern slavery risks can arise within the construction sector supply chain. We therefore take proportionate steps to assess and manage risk, including:
- Working with reputable suppliers, subcontractors and labour providers
- Expecting suppliers and subcontractors to comply with the Modern Slavery Act 2015
- Reserving the right to terminate relationships where modern slavery concerns are identified
- Raising awareness of modern slavery risks with those we work with
6. Training and Awareness
KIIF ensures that those responsible for recruitment, engagement of subcontractors and site management understand the risks of modern slavery and human trafficking. This includes awareness of:
- Indicators of forced labour or exploitation
- Appropriate action to take if concerns arise
- The importance of ethical labour practices
7. Reporting Concerns (Whistleblowing)
KIIF encourages all employees, subcontractors and others working on our behalf to report any concerns related to modern slavery, human trafficking or unethical labour practices.
Concerns can be raised:
- With a director or senior manager of KIIF
- Through our whistleblowing procedures
- All reports will be treated seriously, confidentially where possible, and without fear of retaliation.
8. Responsibility for the Policy
Overall responsibility for this policy rests with the Directors of KIIF Construction Ltd. The Directors are responsible for:
- Ensuring this policy complies with legal requirements
- Reviewing and updating the policy annually
- Monitoring compliance across the business and supply chains
